Parents,
We started a critical series in Student Ministries over the weekend called “HELP! when the going gets tough.” As the title indicates, this series is all about helping students going through tough times in life.
A few things I would encourage you all to do as parents over the course of this series are as follows:
1. Watch the movie “To Save A Life” with your teenager (in theaters now). It is a movie that highlights some of the major issues teens are faced with in life and points them to hope in Jesus Christ. This movie would be a great way to break the ice with your son or daughter as to some of the tough things they may be experiencing in life right now.
2. Order the book, “A Parent’s Guide to Helping Teenagers In Crisis” by Rich Van Pelt and Jim Hancock. It is a book that gives you action steps and advice as to how to approach your teen before or after a crises takes place in their lives.
3. Make sure your son or daughter gets signed-up for a Small Group. Small Groups are an extension of our Weekend Worship Service throughout the week that create a non-threatening atmosphere where students can open up about what’s going on in their lives and receive prayer from their peers and adult Youth Mentors. Some students signed up over the weekend, but they will also have an opportunity to sign up this upcoming weekend. Small Groups start next week, February 8-11th.
Thanks for making your teenagers spiritual and personal life a priority! Have an amazing week.
In Christ,
Darius
